TITLE OF PROFESOR

Proceedings for the conferment of the title of professor are initiated at the request of a person who holds a habilitated doctor's degree, has outstanding national or international achievements and participates in the work of project research teams and carries out scientific research and development work, which the person refers to the Council for Scientific Excellence.

Please note: as of 1 May 2023, there are new templates for the documents submitted as part of the application for the initiation of proceedings for the conferment of the title of professor!!!

 In the case of an application for the initiation of proceedings for the conferment of the title of professor in the field of sciences and natural sciences, the application with full documentation must also be submitted in English.

Method of preparation of the documentation:

  • the application for the initiation of proceedings for the conferment of the title of professor, together with the attachments, shall be submitted in person or by post or courier service.
  • the application may also be submitted via the ePUAP electronic submission box: /RDN/ESP box (in this case, the application must be accompanied by a qualified electronic signature, the trusted profile, with the proviso that the vetting statement must be submitted on paper and accompanied by a handwritten signature);

PROCEDURE FOR THE CONFERMENT OF THE TITLE OF PROFESSOR

  1. The previously prepared documentation should be accompanied by a written request addressed to the Vice-Chancellor for Science to cover the costs of the professorial procedure [specimen letter] and the opinion of the Chairperson of the Council for Scientific Discipline on the submitted application for the initiation of the procedure for the conferment of the professorial title.
  2. All documents required for the proceedings, together with the letter regarding the proceedings fee, should be submitted to the Science Department.
  3. The Science Department verifies the documentation submitted by the candidate for the conferment of the title of professor and forwards a request to the Vice-Chancellor for Science to cover the proceedings.
  4. After obtaining the University's approval to cover the costs of the professorial procedure, the Science Department issues a payment instruction (in accordance with the RDN guidelines), which it forwards, together with the Pro Vice-Chancellor's approval, to the Bursar's Office.
  5. Once the payment has been made, the Bursar's Office forwards confirmation of the payment to the RDN to the Science Department.
  6. The complete set of documents together with the confirmation of payment is forwarded by the Science Department to the candidate for the conferment of the title of professor.
  7. The candidate sends the set of documents to the RDN.
  8. The RDN appoints 5 reviewers and orders them to give an opinion on the candidate's fulfilment of the requirements referred to in Article 227, paragraph 1 or 2 of the Act of 20 July 2018.  Law on Higher Education and Science ( OJ C 2020, item 85 as amended).
  9. The opinion shall be issued within 3 months from the date of ordering the review by the RDN.
  10. The RDN, within 3 months from the date of receipt of the opinion, by way of an administrative decision, applies to the President of the Republic of Poland to grant the candidate the title of professor or refuses to apply to the President. The candidate has the right to request a reconsideration of the decision within 3 months from the date of delivery of the decision.
